The Polish Ministry of Defense has finally decided on the location of the F-35 Lightning II fifth-generation fighter jets.

Here's What We Know

The first batch of planes will go to the base of the 32nd tactical group in the city of Lask. This was announced by the Polish Ministry of Defense. The base is located in the center of the country. Recently it was visited by the President Mateusz Morawiecki and the US Ambassador Mark Brzezinski.

Poland already has F-16 Fighting Falcon aircraft, and a few months ago the U.S. sent the first fifth-generation F-22 Raptor fighters to the country. Defense Minister Mariusz Błaszczak said the F-16, F-22 and F-35 have much in common, so Polish pilots will be able to operate all planes without problems.

Poland has ordered 32 F-35A Lightning II fifth-generation fighters in 2020. The first planes will arrive at the base in the city of Lask "in a relatively short time." The cost of the contract was $4.6 billion.
