Another strike group led by the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS Gerald Ford is headed for Europe.
Here's What We Know
The U.S. strike group will arrive to the naval base in Portsmouth, UK, in mid-November. The USS Gerald Ford has about 90 aircraft and helicopters on board, including the F-35C Lightning II fifth-generation deck fighters with increased wing and tail area.
The nuclear aircraft carrier is accompanied by several other ships, among them destroyers and a missile cruiser. In addition, the strike group includes a nuclear submarine.
It is noteworthy that there is already an aircraft carrier group of the United States Navy in Europe. It includes the nuclear-powered aircraft carrier USS George Bush, destroyers USS Nitze, USS Farragut, USS Delbert Black and USS Truxtun, the missile cruiser USS Leyte Gulf and the cruise missile submarine Tomahawk.
