Contract for $535,000,000: U.S. authorizes Lockheed Martin to sell GMLRS guided missiles for M270 MLRS to Finland

The United States has authorized the sale of the GMLRS family of missiles to Finland.

Here's What We Know

This was reported by the US Military Cooperation Agency. The question is about the contract worth $535 000 000. The order will include 150 units of guided missiles GMLRS in variants M30A1 (AW) or M30A2 (IMPS) and 250 units of rockets M31A1 or M31A2. The order will be executed by Lockheed Martin. The missiles will be used with M270D1 multiple rocket launchers on the tracked chassis. Finland purchased them in 2006.

GMLRS is a family of American guided rockets of 227 mm caliber. GMLRS are classified as high-precision weapons. Such projectiles are used in the M270 MLRS and M142 HIMARS multiple rocket launchers. Their development and production is carried out by the Lockheed Martin company.
