While Poland is trying to convince the U.S. to deploy nuclear weapons on its territory, Finland has decided to go in the opposite direction.
Here's What We Know
Sweden and Finland are expected to become new members of NATO in the foreseeable future. The president of the latter, Sauli Niinistö, said even before the country joined the alliance that Finland does not intend to deploy nuclear weapons on its territory.
Niinistö believes that as soon as Finland becomes a member of NATO, the issue of deployment of nuclear warheads on its territory will be raised. At the same time, he is "not used to the idea" that his country can place this type of weapon on its territory.
