The Israeli company Rafael Advanced Defense Systems has transferred the first batch of SPYDER surface-to-air missile systems to the Philippines.

Here's What We Know

This was reported by the Asia Pacific Defense Journal. These are two batteries of special version SPYDER Philippines Air Defense System (SPADS). This version differs from the ordinary one by having a different surveillance and fire control radar, as well as I-Derby-MR missiles with increased range and launch speed from the vertical launchers. By the end of the year another battery is to be handed over to the Philippines.

By the way, except for the SPYDER SAM, the Philippines also received the second transport aircraft C295W.
