China's Xian H-6 nuclear bombers and Russia's Tu-95 entered South Korea's air defense identification zone
South Korean air defense radars have detected several Russian and Chinese combat aircraft.
Here's What We Know
On November 29 at 04:50 (EDT) or 01:50 (PDT) two Chinese strategic bombers Xian H-6 (pictured above) entered the identification zone of the South Korean air defense system in the area of the south and north coast. This was reported by the Joint Chiefs of Staff. The planes entered and exited the air defense identification zone twice.
A few hours later, the Chinese Xian H-6s did the same, but from the side of the Sea of Japan. This time they were accompanied by Russian Tu-95 strategic bombers (pictured below). They were accompanied by Su-35 fighters.
The Joint Chiefs of Staff note that after the identification of the Russian and Chinese aircraft, South Korean Air Force aircraft were put on alert. The service also stresses that both Russian and Chinese warplanes remained in the air defense identification zone without violating the country's airspace.
