Lockheed Martin will receive $431 million to produce additional M142 HIMARS artillery systems
U.S. defense contractor Lockheed Martin will receive a new contract from the Pentagon to produce the M142 HIMARS.
Here's What We Know
This is not the first contract for Lockheed Martin related to the M142 HIMARS. A few weeks ago, the company was awarded more than $500 million to produce the GMLRS rockets.
Now the U.S. Department of Defense has allocated $431.93 million to the manufacturer for production of M142 HIMARS multiple launch rocket systems. The work under the contract is to be completed by December 31, 2025.
The Pentagon notes that the production will be launched to meet the urgent need for missile systems for the army and partners. In this case, the Defense Department does not specify to which partners the new M142 HIMARS may be transferred.
