The United States will purchase more than 13,000 AIM-9X, AGM-158 and AIM-120 aircraft missiles and thousands of AGM-158C, Harpoon and NSM anti-ship missiles
We wrote that the Pentagon intends to buy 700 M142 HIMARS launchers along with ATACMS ballistic missiles and GMLRS precision-guided missiles in 2023. But that's not all.
Here's What We Know
The National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA) states that the U.S. Department of Defense will replenish its stockpile of missiles. These include the AIM-9X Sidewinder, AIM-120 AMRAAM and AGM-158 JASSM. They will be purchased in numbers of 5,100, 5,100 and 3,100 units respectively.
The USA will also allocate funds for the purchase of anti-ship missiles. The question is about Harpoon, Naval Strike Missile (NSM) and AGM-158C LRASM - 2600, 1250 and 950 respectively.
Moreover, the American military will get 1,500 SM-6 missiles and 3,850 PAC-3 MSE interceptors for the Patriot surface-to-air missile systems. But that's not all. Below we've added a list of what other ammunition the U.S. Army plans to get in 2023.
- M107, M795, XM1113, XM1128 (864,000 pieces);
- M982 Excalibur (12,050 pieces);
- AGM-179 JAGM (12,000 pieces)
- FGM-148 Javelin (28,300 pieces);
- FIM-92 Stinger (5,600 pieces).
