Spanish fourth generation Eurofighter Typhoon fighters will be equipped with Brimstone missiles. This was reported by one of the representatives of the Spanish Air Force.

Here's What We Know

The Typhoon aircraft are produced by a European consortium that includes AE Systems, Airbus Company and Leonardo. The Brimstone air-to-surface missiles are produced by MBDA.

The 141st Squadron will begin using the new weaponry after it undergoes operational evaluation by the Spanish Air Force. The deal between the service and MBDA has not yet been signed, but officials already say that deliveries of the first missiles will start before the end of next year.

Interestingly, the Spanish military does not yet know which version of the Brimstone they will get. But it is known that experts from the British Royal Air Force will help with the integration of the missiles.

Note that the MBDA is now working on the SPEAR 3 missile, which has the technology used in the Brimstone 3. Commissioning was planned for 2025, but later had to be postponed until 2028. The missile is intended for the F-35 Lightning II and Eurofighter Typhoon fighters.
