Sweden receives fourth battery of Patriot PAC-3+ surface-to-air missile systems with GEM-T and MSE missiles under $3.2 billion contract
The Swedish Armed Forces have received the latest battery of Patriot Advanced Capability 3+ surface-to-air missile systems.
Here's What We Know
The United States has accelerated deliveries of air defense systems. According to plans, the last battery of air defense systems was not supposed to arrive in Sweden until next year. It took four years to fulfill the contract. Now all that is left is the delivery of replacement equipment.
The cost of the agreement is $3.2 billion. One Patriot PAC-3+ battery for the "Swedish" variant consists of three launchers, i.e. Sweden received 12 launchers in total.
The surface-to-air missile system includes AN/MPQ-65 radar stations. The contract also provides for delivery of 100 MIM-104E Guidance Enhanced Missiles (GEM-T) and 200 PAC-3 Missile Segment Enhancement (MSE) interceptors.
