On December 20, the U.S. sent fifth-generation F-22 Raptor fighters to South Korea for joint exercises. But the weather had its own plans for that.

Here's What We Know

The United States and South Korea decided to cancel the exercise involving F-22 Raptor, F-35A Lightning II and F-15K Eagle fighters. The reason was the snowfall. The exercise was scheduled for December 21.

As a result, American planes returned to Kadena Air Base in Japan, where they are a temporary replacement for the fourth generation fighters F-15 Eagle, which are being withdrawn from service.

Note that on December 20, along with the F-22 Raptor, the B-52H Stratofortress nuclear bomber went to South Korea. It was a response to North Korea, which launched two ballistic missiles over the weekend. The strategic aviation aircraft appears to be staying in South Korea for the time being.
