Exosonic will create a supersonic unmanned simulator of the Russian Su-57 and Chinese J-20 fighters for the U.S. Air Force to train American aircraft

The United States Air Force will receive an unmanned simulator to simulate battles with Russian Su-57 and Chinese J-20 fighters. The developer of the device is Exosonic company.

Here's What We Know

For decades, the U.S. Air Force has used fourth-generation F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters along with Northrop F-5 Freedom Fighters to simulate aerial combat with Russia and China. However, the emergence of fifth-generation fighters makes training difficult because the capabilities of the F-16 and F-5 do not match those of the new enemy aircraft.

Exosonic will develop an unmanned J-20 and Su-57 simulator that will be able to reach supersonic speeds (over Mach 1 / 1234.5 km/h). It will be equipped with state-of-the-art fighter systems, including an active phased antenna array, infrared search and a high-speed data link.

The drone developed by Exosonic will be called the Revenant. Externally, it will look like something between a cockpitless fighter and a large cruise missile. For example, the AGM-129 Advanced Cruise Missile for the B-52 Stratofortress strategic bomber.

The Revenant will have a maximum flight speed of Mach 1.2 (1,482 km/h). This is enough to simulate the speed of most aircraft that have appeared in the last 40 years. Unfortunately, we have no more information about the new Exosonic and U.S. Air Force project.
