The Israeli Air Force will receive two and a half dozen fourth-generation F-15EX Eagle II fighters. Boeing will also supply KC-46 Pegasus air refuelers.

Here's What We Know

Israel will receive 25 F-15EX Eagle II fighters, with the possibility to increase the order to 50 aircraft. Note that the Israeli version will have the designation F-15 IA (Israel Advanced). The military is keen to increase its fleet of fighters. Israel also wants to modernize the planes that are already in service.

Along with the F-15EX, Boeing will send four KC-46 Pegasus air tankers. The agreement foresees the possibility of increasing the tanker aircraft to eight in the future. The KC-46 will replace the KC-130 Hercules and converted Boeing 707s.

The supply information was confirmed by Boeing Defense, Space and Security President and CEO Ted Colbert, who met with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. A timeline is not yet known. However, Colbert noted that Israel should receive all new aircraft by 2028. At the same time, the buyer will insist on a faster fulfillment of the contract.

Israel made its last purchase of F-15s 20 years ago. After that it bought 100 F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters and 50 fifth-generation F-35 Lightning II aircraft.
