8 hypersonic missiles, 48 F-35 Lightning II fighters, 24 upgraded F-15EX Eagle II, ships, tanks, submarines and destroyers - the US will boost its defence capability by billions of dollars

In 2024, the United States may spend more than $300 billion on arms purchases and the development of advanced projects. Bloomberg found out what equipment the Pentagon wants to buy for the US Air Force, Navy and Army.

Here's What We Know

We wrote that the Pentagon will request $179 million for Lockheed Martin to produce additional 28 highly mobile artillery systems M142. In addition to the HIMARS, a large amount of other military equipment is expected to be purchased, but no amounts have been specified:

  • 91 M113 replacement armoured personnel carriers for the US Army (BAE Systems);
  • 48 F-35 fifth-generation fighter jets for the US Air Force (Lockheed Martin);
  • 42 AH-64E Apache helicopters (Boeing);
  • 33 light tanks (General Dynamics);
  • 24 upgraded F-15EX Eagle II fighters (Boeing);
  • 15 KC-46 Pegasus aerial refuelers (Boeing);
  • 8 hypersonic missiles for the US Navy (Lockheed Martin);
  • 7 NH-139A Gray Wolf helicopters to protect nuclear weapon silos (Boeing);
  • 2 Constellation-class frigates (Fincantieri / Marinette Marine of Marinette);
  • 2 Virginia-class submarines (General Dynamics and HII);
  • 2 Arleigh Burke-class destroyers (General Dynamics and HII).

In addition to this, the US Department of Defense will request funds to improve 34 Abrams M1A2 tanks from General Dynamics. In addition, the request includes a budget to fund 10 space missions.
