A few weeks ago it was revealed that Spain wants to buy more Eurofighter Typhoon fighters. It looks like the deal is nearing completion.

Here's What We Know

Airbus is confident that Spain will order a new batch of fourth generation Eurofighter Typhoon fighters. Part of the funds will come from reducing the order for Airbus A400M jets by 13 units.

The cost of the contract has not yet been specified, but Infodefensa writes that it should be guided by the previous deal. It's about the purchase of 20 fighter jets for over $ 1.9 billion. The deal was concluded in the summer of 2022.

European concern Airbus has already made public the delivery schedule of 20 new planes ordered by Spain in June last year:

  • 2026 - three aircraft;
  • 2027 - five planes;
  • 2028 - six planes;
  • 2029 - four planes;
  • 2030 - two aircraft.

According to new information, the Spanish Air Force could buy more than 25 additional Eurofighter Typhoons. They will replace the American EF-18 Hornet fighters. The exact cost will depend on the chosen configuration of the aircraft.
