Poland rejects Italian Eurofighter Typhoon fighters instead of MiG-29 to be presented to Ukraine
Poland is not satisfied with Eurofighter Typhoon fighters that Italy is offering to replace the MiG-29. This is reported by the Polish edition of Defence24.
Here's What We Know
The Polish Air Force will send Soviet-made MiG-29 jets to Ukraine. Warsaw could have received British Eurofighter Typhoon Tranche 1s instead, but the UK Ministry of Defence said no negotiations were taking place.
At the same time, Italy offered Poland 12-16 Tranche 1 level fighters to replace the MiG-29s. According to Defence24, Warsaw is not satisfied with the aircraft because it is not capable of ensuring air supremacy and requires large investments.
In theory, Italy could transfer the Eurofighter Typhoon to Spain, which is decommissioning the F/A-18 Hornet. And Spain could send its planes to the Ukrainian Air Force.
