Greece to spend $403m on Spike anti-tank missiles with a range of up to 25km
Israeli company Rafael has signed a contract with the Greek Ministry of Defence for the production and supply of Spike anti-tank missiles. The deal was worth €370 million ($403 million).
Here's What We Know
The agreement was signed by Israeli Defence Ministry director general Eyal Zamir and Aristeidis Alexopoulos, head of Greece's General Directorate of Defence Investment and Armaments. The contract demonstrates the strong partnership between the two nations and their mutual commitment to security in the region. This was announced by Israeli Defence Minister Yoav Gallant.
The new deal follows the sale of the David's Sling air defense system to the Finnish armed forces, which formally joined NATO last week. The contract is worth $345 million.
The Spike anti-tank missile is available in several variants with a maximum range of 25km and can be launched from 45 platforms. According to Rafael, the company was able to sell around 30,000 missiles to 39 countries, 19 of which are members of NATO and/or the European Union.
