Boeing gets $313.4m to upgrade 25 F/A-18 Super Hornet fighters to extend service life by 4,000 flight hours
US manufacturer Boeing has been awarded a contract to upgrade its fourth-generation F/A-18E/F Super Hornet multirole fighters. The upgrade will significantly increase the life of the aircraft.

The $313.4 million deal will help Boeing upgrade 25 F/A-18E/F Super Hornet fighters that belong to the US Navy.
After the upgrade, the service life of the fighters will be increased from 6,000 to 10,000 flight hours. The upgrade will also involve the installation of new Block III-level avionics. Work on the contract will take place in Texas and will be completed in February 2025.
The F/A-18E/F Super Hornet is equipped with two F414-GE-400 turbofan engines, which allow speeds of 2,222 km/h (1.8 Mach). The aircraft carries AIM-7 Sparrow, AIM-9 Sidewinder and Harpoon missiles and is equipped with a 20 mm Vulcan cannon.
