Poland orders 22 air defence batteries and hundreds of CAMM missiles worth $2.4bn
Poland continues to strengthen its armed forces. Last week, the country, whose army claims to be the most powerful in Europe, ordered 22 anti-aircraft missile batteries and hundreds of missiles.

Poland has signed a contract with MBDA. This was announced by the European armament manufacturer and Polish Defence Minister Mariusz Błaszczak. The deal was worth £1.9 billion ($2.4 billion), a record for a European NATO country in the short-range air defence sector.
One anti-aircraft missile system includes the iLauncher launcher and Common Anti-Air Modular Missile (CAMM). According to Polish sources, the contract involves the delivery of hundreds of missiles and 44 launchers, but the number is not officially specified by the company or the Polish Ministry of Defense.
CAMM is a relatively new MBDA missile. The United Kingdom took it into service in 2018. Poland received the first missiles in 2022.
CAMM is 3.2 metres long and 16.6 cm in diameter. The missile weighs almost 100 kg. The use of a vertical launcher provides 360-degree firing capability. The maximum launch range is 25 km.
