Israeli company Rafael has unveiled a shipboard version of its Iron Beam laser weapon. The manufacturer tested the system last year, but has only now published a video.

Here's What We Know

The Iron Beam laser weapon can be integrated into an air defence system. It is designed to provide protection against drones of all sizes, cruise missiles and even short-range ballistic missiles.

The main features of Iron Beam are 'endless ammunition' and minimal collateral damage. The system is also easy to maintain. Israel is considering integrating laser weapons into its national air defence system.

A shipboard version of the Iron Beam was unveiled at IMDEX Asia 2023 in Singapore. The video below shows how the laser weapon shot down an unmanned aerial vehicle and a missile.
