The US Air Force has deployed F-22 Raptor fifth-generation fighter jets to Estonia as part of an effort to provide air support for NATO's eastern flank. The squadron of aircraft was deployed to Ämari base on May 8, 2023.

Here's What We Know

The US Air Force deployed 12 F-22 Raptor fighters to Poland early last month. The planes flew from Langley-Eustis base and arrived at Poland's Powidz base. The fifth-generation fighters will now also be located in Estonia. The Emari base is near Tallinn.

The F-22 Raptor will help deter aggression in the Baltic Sea region. The deployment of the fighters to Europe underscores the operational readiness of coalition forces to respond to emerging threats and defend NATO territory.

The US Air Force Press Service reminds us that fourth generation Eurofighter Typhoon fighters of the British Royal Air Force have already been deployed in Estonia. Additionally, NASAMS Spanish air defence systems have been installed in Latvia.
