Hensoldt to supply Ukraine with advanced TRML-4D radars for the IRIS-T SLM surface-to-air missile system, which can simultaneously track 1,500 airborne targets at a range of up to 250 km
The Ukrainian Armed Forces will receive a new batch of German TRML-4D radars. This was officially announced by the manufacturer Hensoldt.
Here's What We Know
TRML-4D radars will be integrated into the IRIS-T SLM air defence system. The Ukrainian Armed Forces now have two surface-to-air missile systems, but the number will soon quadruple. The deal will be worth €100,000 ($108.3m). Deliveries of the four radars are scheduled for the end of this year.
TRML-4D is a state-of-the-art medium-range radar that operates in the C-band. The radar was developed in 2018. It is equipped with an electronically scanned active phased array antenna, which has a large number of Galium Nitride-based receiver/transmitter modules.
The Hensoldt radar system is capable of simultaneously tracking up to 1,500 targets at a maximum distance of 250 km. The radar can track ballistic missiles and fighters at ranges of up to 150 km and 60 km respectively.
