Taiwan procures 18 additional M142 HIMARS missile systems

Taiwan has decided to order an additional batch of M142 HIMARS high-mobility artillery missile systems. The island country's Ministry of National Defence wants to speed up deliveries of the US weapons.

Taiwan has ordered 18 units of M142 HIMARS. The contract also includes delivery of additional equipment. The amount of the deal is not specified. Deliveries will begin in 2026, a year earlier than originally anticipated.

The new launchers will increase the total number of missile systems to 29. The sale of 11 HIMARS was approved by the US State Department in mid-fall 2020, although Taiwan originally requested 15 systems.
