Here's What We Know
The Czech Republic and BAE Systems Hägglunds started negotiations back in 2021. The European country eventually agreed to pay $2.2 billion for 246 CV90 MkIV infantry fighting vehicles in seven different configurations.
The Czech Republic is the ninth operator of the CV90. The fighting vehicle combines mobility, firepower, high levels of protection and the potential for future growth. This was announced by Tommy Gustafsson-Rask, managing director of BAE Systems Hägglunds.
The CV90s will be developed and delivered in partnership with Czech industry to meet the requirements of the Czech Ministry of Defence and preserve the nation's national sovereignty. The contract will strengthen the local defence sector and open up access to BAE Systems' global supply chain.
The CV90 entered service in 1993. In 30 years, BAE Systems Hägglunds has produced more than 1,400 infantry fighting vehicles in 17 variants for European countries, five of which are NATO members.
