BAE Systems in Ukraine - manufacturer of Challenger 2 tanks, HMS Queen Elizabeth aircraft carrier, Tempest sixth-generation fighter, Archer, M777 and M109 howitzers to launch production and repair facility
Following Rheinmetall, another European defence giant plans to launch a company in Ukraine. This time it is the British company BAE Systems.
Here's What We Know
The agreement with BAE Systems was announced by Volodymyr Zelenskyy. The President of Ukraine met with BAE Systems CEO Charles Woodburn, Managing Director Gabby Costigan and Director of Cooperation with Ukraine Christian Seear.
Volodymyr Zelenskyy discussed with representatives of the British company the localization of production in Ukraine. The parties will start work on the opening of the BAE Systems office in Ukraine, after which they will move on to the deployment of the company's repair and production facilities. The President said that Ukraine is ready to become a big regional hub for repair and production of various BAE Systems products.
The product range of BAE Systems cannot be called modest. The company produces Eurofighter Typhoon fighters, Challenger 2 tanks, M113 armoured personnel carriers, M2 Bradley and CV90 armoured fighting vehicles, as well as M777, M109 and Archer howitzers.
BAE is also the manufacturer of the Royal Navy aircraft carrier HMS Queen Elizabeth. In addition, the company is working on the sixth generation Tempest fighter and produces AN/ASQ-239 radars for the fifth generation F-35 Lightning II fighter.
