Euro-PULS could get SkyStriker kamikaze drones, GMLRS ER munitions, NSM and JFS-M missiles with a launch range of up to 500km
The European KMW+Nexter Defense Systems (KNDS) holding company wants to expand the range of munitions compatible with the Euro-PULS multiple-launch rocket system. If a solution is agreed upon, the "German HIMARS" will be able to launch missiles with a launch range of up to 500 km and even kamikaze drones.
Here's What We Know
Euro-PULS is the product of a collaboration between Germany's Krauss-Maffei Wegmann (KMW) and Israel's Elbit Systems. It will be based on the Precise and Universal Launching System (PULS). The chassis will be an Iveco Trakker 8×8.
KMW and Elbit are bringing their development to Munich, Bavaria, for the Defence iQ Future Artillery Conference. At the same time, the Bild newspaper stated that the German government is considering the purchase of the Euro-PULS to replace the MARS II.
At the same time, KNDS made an interesting proposal to expand the range of munitions for the Euro-PULS. In particular, to add the ability to launch Naval Strike Missile (NSM) modifications with a range of up to 250 km.
In addition, Euro-PULS can be armed with the Joint Fire Support Missile (JFS-M). The missile is being developed by MBDA Deutschland. A full-size prototype was unveiled at Future Artillery 2023. The JFS-M will have a launch range of 500 km. The missile will be compatible with MARS II (pictured below).
In addition to the NSM and JFS-M, KNDS proposes the GMLRS-ER rocket, which is capable of engaging targets at ranges up to 150km. This year, Lockheed Martin is completing testing of a new precision-guided munition. The Euro-PULS arsenal could also include Diehl AT2/AT3 anti-tank mines and SkyStriker kamikaze drones with a range of up to 70km.
