Germany hands over MANTIS anti-aircraft systems to Slovakia to be placed on the border with Ukraine

Germany has signed a contract with Slovakia for the supply of MANTIS air defence systems.

Here's What We Know

The information was shared by the Slovakian Ministry of Defence. There are two units in question. They will be delivered to the Slovak army free of charge. The first deliveries should start in the next few weeks. By the way, Slovakia plans to use MANTIS to strengthen the airspace near the border with Ukraine.

MANTIS (Modular, Automatic and Network capable Targeting and Interception System) is a short-range anti-aircraft artillery system. MANTIS is produced by the German company Rheinmetall. The system is designed to protect military and strategic civilian infrastructure from low-altitude aerial threats, including UAVs. Its claimed rate of fire is 1000 rounds per minute.
