B-52H Stratofortress nuclear bombers return to Indo-Pacific

The US Air Force has returned B-52H Stratofortress strategic bombers to the Indo-Pacific region. The planes are stationed on the island of Guam.

Here's What We Know

The deployment of the Bomber Task Force (BTF) allows US forces to demonstrate the ability to engage their armed forces at any time and place. Such events demonstrate the continued readiness of U.S. forces and U.S. commitment to partners and allies.

The U.S. Air Force has deployed four nuclear-powered bombers assigned to the 23rd Bombers Squadron at Andersen. It is stationed at Minot, North Dakota. The strategic aircraft arrived in Guam on June 14, 2023.

The B-52H Stratofortress is a long-range heavy bomber that can perform multiple missions. It is capable of carrying nuclear and conventional weapons, flying at high subsonic speeds at altitudes up to 15km. It has a range of over 14,000 km without refuelling.
