Elbit unveils Nano SPEAR active defence system to counter anti-aircraft and anti-aircraft missiles

Israeli company Ebit Systems has unveiled a radio-frequency decoy that provides protection against missiles. It is called Nano SPEAR.

The active protection system is capable of countering surface-to-air and air-to-air missiles that have radar guidance. According to the manufacturer, the Nano SPEAR can operate in coordination with an electronic warfare system or in standalone mode.

The trap weighs less than 800g. Elbit Systems says the Nano SPEAR improves aircraft survivability and crew safety during a mission. The system is equipped with a digital transmitter and radio jamming generator.

The SPEAR series of decoys includes several models. In addition to the Nano SPEAR, it includes the Micro SPEAR for small platforms, the Light SPEAR for medium-sized aircraft and the Advanced SPEAR for the Embraer C-390 transport aircraft.
