Germany buys Swedish and Israeli electronic warfare systems for upgraded EF-2000 Typhoon ECR fighters and Sikorsky CH-53GS/GE helicopters
German aircraft and helicopters will receive new electronic warfare systems. Suppliers will be Saab and Elbit Systems from Sweden and Israel, respectively.

Elbit Systems has signed a contract with the German Ministry of Defence to supply electronic warfare systems for the Sikorsky CH-53GS/GE Sea Stallion transport helicopters. The upgrade will take place at the Airbus Helicopters plant.
The CH-53GS/GE Sea Stallion will receive radar warning systems, radar obstacle installation sensors and countermeasure systems. The manufacturer claims that the electronic warfare suite will enable rapid containment of a wide range of airborne threats.
The upgraded EF-2000 Typhoon ECR fighters will also receive an upgrade. The Electronic Warfare System supplier will be Saab, but no firm agreement has been signed yet. Details of the potential contract have not been made public either.
The EF-2000 Typhoon ECR upgrade will take place at Saab's German facility in Bavaria. Last year, the German Air Force said it wanted to install electronic warfare systems on 15 upgraded fighters.
