Finnish industry will participate in the production of the F-35 Lighting II fifth-generation fighter jet. An agreement to this effect has been signed between Lockheed Martin and Patria.

Here's What We Know

The Finnish company will be involved in the assembly of the front fuselage for the F-35. In total, we are talking about the assembly of 400 of these parts. At that, we are talking about the aircraft for the Finnish Air Force, as well as for foreign customers. The framework agreement will open up Patria's access to the global supply chain.

In addition, Patria will be able to establish joint production projects with Pratt & Whitney. Raytheon's subsidiary produces F135 jet engines for the F-35 Lightning II fighter jet.

Note that the Finnish Air Force will start receiving F-35s in 2025. Deliveries will last until 2030. The Scandinavian country has ordered 64 Block 4 level fighters, which will replace the fourth generation F/A-18 Hornet aircraft.
