Japan invests $243 to develop subsonic anti-ship missile that could have a launch range of up to 1,000 km
Japan is actively working to strengthen its own missile capabilities. The Ministry of Defence recently awarded a contract to Kawasaki Heavy Industries (KHI) to develop an anti-ship missile.

The deal amounted to $243 million. The new contract is part of a larger project in which the Land of the Rising Sun is investing $2.3 billion, which will last from 2023 to 2027.
Kawasaki has been working on the anti-ship missile for five years. It is in the research and development phase. This was announced by a representative of the Japanese company Satoshi Hamada.
He said the concept of an anti-ship missile has already been proposed to the Japanese Defense Ministry. Kawasaki will be ready to move to the production phase as soon as it receives a decision from the government.
The warhead will be equipped with Kawasaki's KJ300 engine. It will have a maximum launch range of 1,000km and a speed of less than 343m/sec. It is also known that the missile will use stealth technology to enhance stealth.
