Rheinmetall supplies Ukraine with a new batch of German Marder 1A3 infantry fighting vehicles and can deliver another 60
Germany's Rheinmetall has announced the delivery of a new batch of Marder infantry fighting vehicles to Ukraine. It includes 20 vehicles.
Here's What We Know
The Ukrainian Armed Forces received 40 infantry fighting vehicles in the first half of 2023. In the future, Rheinmetall may double deliveries. The German concern has started working on delivering another 60 Marder units.
All available infantry combat vehicles have been refurbished and are a version of the Marder 1A3 that was previously owned by the German Armed Forces. Rheinmetall started the refurbishment of the vehicles in the spring of 2022.
As part of the Ringtausch programme, which was initiated by the German government, Rheinmetall will deliver 40 Marder infantry fighting vehicles to Greece. They will be a replacement for the Soviet-era BMPs that Greece handed over to Ukraine.
