China officially confirms for the first time that H-6K nuclear bombers flew around Taiwan under cover of night in 2018
For five years, China has not confirmed the use of H-6K strategic bombers for flights around Taiwan in 2018. And now, that has changed.
Here's What We Know
Authorities in the People's Republic of China sent nuclear bombers on a mission to fly around the island under the cover of night in 2018. Lieutenant Colonel Zhang Bin revealed this on state television channel CCTV.
Taiwan's air force immediately announced the approach of Chinese strategic aircraft to the borders. The Chinese Defense Ministry did not deny the mission but refused to acknowledge the use of H-6K bombers.
Note that China has been frequently sending its planes around the island nation in recent times. Over the past year, the People's Liberation Army has conducted several large-scale exercises involving fighter jets, nuclear bombers, aircraft carriers and other ships.
