Philippines wants M142 HIMARS and BrahMos supersonic missiles as part of military modernisation programme
The Philippine Ministry of Defence is moving to the final stage of its armed forces modernisation programme. At this stage, the country wants to acquire BrahMos missiles and M142 HIMARS artillery systems.

Artillery divisions of the Armed Forces of the Philippines use mostly Cold War-era weapons. Recently, it received 12 Israeli self-propelled 155mm ATMOS 2000 howitzers.
In the future, the Philippine army will buy Indian BrahMos supersonic anti-ship missiles. The Armed Forces will also receive American M142 HIMARS artillery systems. This was announced by Philippine Army Commander Romeo Brawner.
No details of future sales are not yet available. But it is known that the Philippines has previously ordered BrahMos missiles. Moreover, this year the country has conducted joint exercises with the US using M142 HIMARS missile systems.
