B-52H Stratofortress bombers are rare visitors to Japan. However, one strategic aircraft made an unscheduled visit to the Land of the Rising Sun.

Here's What We Know

Last morning, a B-52 H Stratofortress made a rare landing in Japan. The nuclear bomber travelled to a US military deployment site in western Tokyo. The cause was maintenance problems during the flight.

The incident happened to one of the strategic aircraft assigned to the 5th Bomb Wing. Its home base is U.S. Air Force Base Minot, North Dakota.

The aircraft was able to land safely. In a statement, the press service of the Japanese airbase Yokote (Yokota) said that managed to avoid accidents. It later became known that the B-52H Stratofortress was in the Indo-Pacific region to support military exercises. The bomber visited the Yokote base for the first time since 1989.
