Collins Aerospace has completed integration of the MS-110 Fast-Jet multispectral airborne reconnaissance system on F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters
Collins Aerospace, a subsidiary of RTX (formerly Raytheon Technology), has completed the integration of the MS-110 Fast-Jet system on the fourth-generation F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters. This is stated in a press release published on the official RTX website.
Here's What We Know
Collins Aerospace announced the completion of flight tests of the MS-110 multispectral airborne reconnaissance system. The tests took a year to complete. In the summer of 2022, an F-16 aircraft of an unknown customer made its debut flight with the MS-110 reconnaissance module. Over the course of 12 months, the developers conducted a series of tests to confirm that the system was ready for deployment.
The press release states that Collins Aerospace is supplying 16 modules to international Fast-Jet operators. In addition, the company is preparing to contract another 13 modules for three additional customers.
The MS-110 Fast-Jet is based on the DB-110 module. The new configuration features an extended range and wider surveillance area, improving the reconnaissance capabilities of the fourth-generation fighter.
The module leverages the multispectral imaging expertise of the SYERS-2C system. The U-2 Dragon Lady strategic reconnaissance aircraft has a similar solution. The system is also compatible with drones like the MQ-9 Reaper.
