Ukraine may receive US F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters as early as 2023
The Ukrainian Air Force may receive US aircraft not next year, but by the end of this year. This was reported by the coordinator of strategic communications at the US National Security Council, John Kirby.
Here's What We Know
According to John Kirby, the fourth-generation F-16 Fighting Falcon fighters are likely to be delivered to Ukraine by the end of the year. At the same time, he noted that, in the opinion of the US authorities, exclusively the aircraft will not be able to change the course of hostilities.
A representative of the US presidential administration, Joe Biden, added that the Ukrainian Armed Forces needed air defence equipment, ammunition, artillery, as well as tanks and other armoured vehicles.
The training of Ukrainian pilots on F-16s is due to begin at the end of next month. Nearly a dozen European countries, including Britain, the Netherlands, Denmark, Norway and Sweden, will help with the training.
