Iran's navy and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps this week adopted a new cruise missile. It was named Abu Mahdi and is designed to destroy enemy ships.
Here's What We Know
Iranian media say the cruise missile has a maximum launch range of more than 1,000 kilometres. It is capable of overcoming natural obstacles and enemy air defence systems.
Abu Mahdi can fly at low altitude and change its flight path depending on the terrain and configuration of enemy defences. Artificial intelligence software is used for flight path design and control.
