Here's What We Know
The information was shared by the publication Defence24. The contract was signed on September 5 during the MSPO-2023 exhibition. It includes deliveries of 46 Narew anti-aircraft missile systems. They should form 23 batteries (two SAMs in each). By the way, in parallel, Poland signed a contract for the purchase of MBDA CAMM-ER medium-range missiles. The first deliveries of missiles and SAMs are planned to start in 2027. The amount of the contracts has not been disclosed yet, but according to analysts' estimates the total cost will be more than $12 billion.
Flashback
Narew is a promising Polish short-range surface-to-air missile system. The new SAM system should counter most aerodynamic targets, including aeroplanes, helicopters and cruise missiles. It is designed to cover airbases and ground forces in co-operation with short-range SAMs. The Narew SAM should play an important role in Poland's future air defence.
