Ukraine will receive a licence to localise production of Czech CZ BREN 2 rifles.

Here's What We Know

The information was shared by the Czech Ministry of Defence. This will be one of the flagship joint projects between the Czech Republic and Ukraine. Assault rifles of the company Česká zbrojovka in Ukraine will be produced under the brand "Sich". In addition, the Czech Republic will help Ukraine to set up ammunition production. The Sellier & Bellot company will be in charge of the project.

By the way, the Ukrainian military is already using CZ BREN 2 rifles. They were noticed in the hands of the AFU back in June 2022.

Flashback

CZ BREN 2 is an assault rifle developed by Czech company CZ-UB. It is an improved version of the CZ-805 BREN 5.56mm assault rifle. CZ BREN 2 has a different design and less weight. The rifle uses gas operated, short-stroke gas piston. This rifle has a quick-change barrel. Thanks to this, its length and calibre can be easily changed. CZ BREN 2 was first shown in 2015. In 2017, it was adopted by the army of the Czech Republic.
