Rheinmetall handed over an additional batch of SurveilSPIRE reconnaissance systems to the AFU, they have night vision cameras and mini UAVs with autopilot

In February this year, the Ukrainian Armed Forces started using German SurveilSPIRE reconnaissance systems. It has now been reported that Ukraine has received an additional batch of such equipment.

Here's What We Know

The information was shared by the company manufacturer Rheinmetall. The customer of the systems is the German government. The exact amount of the contract Rheinmetall does not disclose. It is only known that the order is in the two-digit range of millions of euros.

SurveilSPIRE is a reconnaissance system that Rheinmetall is developing together with Estonian company DefSecIntel. The system consists of a tower as well as night vision cameras. The complex also includes a mini UAV with autopilot and a transport vehicle. The system can be deployed by three people. All data collected by SurveilSPIRE is transmitted to the command centre. The system operates via mobile phone or Starlink satellite internet. SurveilSPIRE is powered by solar panels. The system can be used to monitor and protect borders, coastal areas and to search for enemy targets.
