Official: Sweden transfers first batch of Archer self-propelled artillery systems to Ukraine
The other day, the Archer SAU was spotted in Ukraine's armoury. Now Sweden has officially confirmed that it has handed over the installations to the AFU.
Here's What We Know
This was reported in social networks by the Swedish Defence Minister Pål Jonson. We are talking about 8 self-propelled artillery units. A little later the AFU should receive 4 more systems.
Flashback
The Archer is a modern Swedish 155mm self-propelled artillery unit based on the Volvo A30D 6×6 chassis. It is designed to destroy manpower, artillery batteries, bunkers, as well as to provide passages in minefields and field barriers. The SAU is manned by 3-4 men. It is capable of engaging targets up to 60 km away (with Excalibur shells). In 3.5 minutes, the Archer can fire more than 21 shells.
