The Ukrainian Armed Forces have received a new batch of NASAMS surface-to-air missile systems.

Here's What We Know

This was announced by the President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky. Zelensky did not disclose exactly how many systems have been put into service, but it can be assumed that we are talking about two launchers worth $9,800,000, which Lithuania had earlier promised to transfer. By the way, Ukraine has more than 2 batteries of NASAMS SAMs in total.

Flashback

NASAMS is a mobile surface-to-air missile system for destroying manoeuvring targets at low and medium altitudes. The complex was developed in the early 90's by the Norwegian company Kongsberg Defence with the participation of the American Raytheon. The AIM-120 AMRAAM missiles have a range of 20-40 kilometres and a maximum altitude of 20 kilometres.
