Ukraine has not signed a contract with Krauss-Maffei Wegmann for the purchase of 100 PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery units

Last July, Germany agreed to sell Ukraine 100 modern PzH 2000 howitzers. As it turned out, Ukraine never signed a contract for the purchase of the howitzers.

The information was shared by German journalist Björn Müller, citing the words of a representative of the KNDS company, which is part of Krauss-Maffei Wegmann. The contract was rumoured to be worth €1.7 billion. Deliveries of howitzers were to take several years. There is no information why Ukraine has not signed the contract. Perhaps it is related to financing or the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence has changed its plans. By the way, Björn Muller also confirmed that Krauss-Maffei Wegmann had started production of RCH 155 wheeled SAU for the AFU.

The PzH-2000 (Panzerhaubitze 2000) is a 155mm self-propelled howitzer gun developed by the German Krauss-Maffei Wegmann. It was adopted by the Bundeswehr in autumn 1998. It uses a 52-calibre (8 m) barrel, an automatic loading system with 60 rounds of ammunition, 228 modular throwing charges and an advanced ground navigation system. The Panzerhaubitze 2000 has a range of 30-50 kilometres (depending on the projectile). By the way, Ukraine is actively using such howitzers in the war against Russian invaders. The AFU received howitzers from Germany, the Netherlands and Italy.
