Ukraine may receive a small batch of Austro-Spanish ASCOD infantry fighting vehicles.

Vladyslav Belbas, director of Ukrainian Armour (Ukrainian Armor), told Epravda in an interview. Ukraine plans to buy a test batch of infantry fighting vehicles and then start negotiations on localisation of BMP production. By the way, the competitor of ASCOD is the Swedish CV90 BMP, which is already in service with the Ukrainian Army.

ASCOD (Austrian-Spanish Cooperative Development) is an infantry fighting vehicle, which is in service with the land forces of Austria and Spain. ASCOD is a versatile platform that can be equipped with various weapon systems: combat modules with 30/40 mm MK 44 Bushmaster type automatic cannons, turrets with 105 mm or 120 mm cannons and anti-tank guided missile systems. ASCOD is equipped with unique ballistic and mine defence systems.
