The US State Department has approved Morocco's request to purchase FGM-148 Javelin anti-tank missiles from RTX and Lockheed Martin.

Here's What We Know

It is noted that Rabat (the capital of Morocco) has requested permission to purchase 612 US Javelins and simulated projectiles to strengthen its defence capabilities. The contract also includes related equipment, supplies, training and other logistical support services.

The contract is currently valued at around $260 million. However, this is important for the US not in terms of money, but in terms of improving the security of its main non-NATO ally, as Morocco is an "important force" for stability in North Africa.
