The Snipping Tools and Photos versions of Windows Insider testers now have the ability to copy text from a screenshot and blur the background in a photo

Microsoft is actively working on updates to its screenshot tool, Snipping Tools, and the standard Photos app, offering users additional features such as copying text from screenshots and adding background blur to photos, which Windows Insider members can already try out.

The Snipping Tools preview build now has a feature that detects text in screenshots and allows you to copy it. The feature is similar to that of Android and iOS, but Microsoft has also added automatic email and phone number recognition.

Phone Link has also been updated, allowing you to quickly copy a photo you took on your Android smartphone.

The photo-related features in Windows 11 are also being updated in the Photos app. Canary and Dev Channel testers can now try out an updated version of the app that lets you apply background blur, search for content in OneDrive photos, find photos by location, and supports animated photos from Samsung and Google.

The background blur feature automatically selects an object in the photo and blurs the background. You can adjust the intensity of the blur and even select areas to blur. OneDrive Photo Content Search lets you search for photos based on various criteria, such as whether cars are in the image or the date it was taken. A similar feature is already available in OneDrive online, and bringing it to Windows Photos is a logical step.

As the above features are currently being rolled out to testers only, there is no date for when they will be available in the stable version of the system.
