Media: the gaming industry's biggest deal is close to being finalised: Microsoft and Activision Blizzard could announce the merger as early as next week
The gaming industry's biggest deal between Microsoft and Activision Blizzard could be finalised as early as next week.
Here's What We Know
The Verge sources said that Microsoft expects to receive all necessary approvals from global regulators in the coming days and close the deal on 13 October 2023.
For the US corporation's plans to finally materialise, final approval from the UK's Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) is required. Today, the CMA is finalising the process of gathering views on the deal and will announce the final verdict next week.
In fact, Microsoft has until October 18 to close the deal - otherwise, the corporation will be forced to ask Activision Blizzard again for more time to complete the deal, which is a significant increase in cash compensation.
