In early July, Xiaomi introduced a new top flagship Xiaomi 12S Ultra. One user took it apart after purchase and revealed an interesting detail.

What we know

We already know that Xiaomi 12S Ultra uses the proprietary Surging P1 and Surging G1 processors to extend battery life and greatly improve charging efficiency. But as it turns out, there's another chip hiding inside, the Surging C2, which is responsible for image processing.

What's interesting is that this chip is not activated, even though it's supposed to improve photo quality.

"A user disassembled and found that the Xiaomi 12S Ultra hides a passphrase, which is the C2 chip responsible for image processing, but it is not currently enabled. Xiaomi is doing final debugging and will enable it with a software update," writes a well-known Ice Universe insider.

So we just have to wait for the update and hope for a change in a positive direction.
